Printing cotton sarongs in India can be a challenge sometimes. But you have to admire the guys who print my designs for the work they do in trying conditions. It amazes me at how simple the printing methods are when you break it all down. There are many trade secrets and skills that go un noticed, yet have been handed down over the centuries. To design these prints in Australia and then produce them in the village can be quite a journey.
Yet all the workers are happy and well cared for by their boss. I often go and have a meal with them in their houses and meet their families, such honest and happy people. I always look forward to my printing trips to see my friends in the village and work with them to make lovely fabrics. Mind you, they have been printing cotton sarongs in this village since 360 BC! Amazing!
