Nude Beach: ”The Artist”

nude beach australia founder Derek Taylor

Born in Sandakan, Sabah in East Malaysia. This wild man from Borneo has inherited parentage from a mixed bag of British, Australian and Kadazan stock resulting in a true melting pot of cultures and life experiences. While living on timber camps deep in the jungles of North Borneo his contact with various tribal cultures, has given him a unique perspective on people and their environments. During this time his parents gave shelter to all sorts of injured and sick creatures in the family home, including his personal favourite “Annabelle” the Orang Utan. He has always loved animals, actually some of his best friends are animals! These days the beaches and forests of Australia are his inspiration, this rich pallet of colours and shapes forms the basis for his designs. We suspect that there is still a bit of head hunter or ethnic wild man in there some where.

Awards and qualifications

  • Diploma of Visual Communications (Honours)

Our Mission

“Nude is not naked, Nude is art!” Nude Beach is about covering up after a swim on hot summer days with something that is cool, yet sheer enough to make you feel like you are wearing nothing at all. Nothing but a great print that reflects your relaxed holiday mood. This type of original fashion statement and colour combinations was sadly lacking in the resorts and beach shops, so we decided to do something about it by producing our own all Australian designer label Sarongs and beach wear. We formed Nude Beach Australia in 2006 to provide the world with high quality beachwear that reflect our unique environment and laid back Australian lifestyle. All our designs are completely original pieces of art created in our studios in Australia and printed under the Artist’s personal supervision in the factory. The ancient production method is the same one used for printing Saris for hundreds of years. You can be sure of the colours remaining bright and vibrant for the life of your favourite fabric.
